Research Topics
  • Hemodynamics and myocardial performance during mechanical cardiac support operation. Systems and organ perfusion during extracorporeal life support; interaction (adverse effects) of failing heart and mechanical cardiac support; Mechanical support of critical heart failure. Dynamic and early markers of circulatory decompensation.
  • Mild therapeutic hypothermia. Changes in cardiac electrophysiology (arrhythmia susceptibility, defibrillation threshold) and plasma electrolytes during early phases of cooling and hypothermia.
  • Stress hormones activity during cardiac catheterization procedures
  • Cardiac electrophysiology studies: ventricular fibrillation inducibility in hypothermia and renal denervation, defibrillation success prediction,
  • ARDS. Interaction of hemodynamics and respiratory parameters during severe ARDS and aggressive ventilation support.
Methods
  • Electrophysiology: endocardial electroanatomical mapping (Carto, NavX), Body surface potential mapping (Biosemi).
  • Hemodynamics: Intravascular flow velocity (Volcano), perivascular flowmetry (Transonic), High fidelity pressure sensors (Scisense/Transonic), Cardiac P-V loop (Scisense/Transonic), Microcirculation dark field spectroscopy (Microscan), Continuous cardiac output (Edwards Lifesciences)
  • Oximetry. NIRStissue oximetry (INVOS, Covidien), Mixed venous oximetry (Vigilance, Edwards Lifesciences]
  • Neuroelectrophysiology EEG, SSEP (Endeavor, Nicolette)
  • Imaging: Fluoroscopy (GE 8800), Echocardiography (TTE - Transthoracic Echocardiography, ICE – intracardiac echocardiography, Siemens Acuson), IVUS – intravascular ultrasound (Volcano)
  • Other: Realtime blood gas analysis (Terumo CDI)
