Two postdoctoral positions at the University of
Postdoctoral Position I
The role of intermediate filament proteins in neural stem cells
Aim of the project: To study the role of intermediate filament proteins and intermediate filaments (nanofilaments) in neural stem cells in both physiological and pathophysiological context. This project will include establishment of stem cell lines from mouse knock-out models. Candidate profile: You can be a medical doctor, cell, molecular or developmental biologist, molecular geneticist or similar, with strong interest in experimental biomedical research. You should have a strong PhD record with articles published in international journals. Previous training in the techniques that will be used is not required but might be an advantage. You should be ready to work in a dedicated international research team. Your command of English should be excellent or outstanding.
How to apply: Please send the following files:
(1) your full CV including the list of publications,
(2) records of your University courses and degrees, and
(3) three references,
to Professor MUDr.

Postdoctoral Position II
Astrocytes as a target in neurodegenerative diseases
Aim of the project: There is an increasing body of evidence suggesting that astrocytes have a central role in the pathogenesis and progression of neurodegenerative diseases. We will study - on a molecular and functional level - mouse genetic models, which allow modulation of astrocytes activity and reactive gliosis, or pharmacological modulation, in combination with mouse models of neurodegeneration, e.g. amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
